Ponmudi is a small hill station, situated nearly 66 km from Thiruananthapuram. It is also a part of the Western Ghats mountain range and is situated at 1100 m height. Home of mountain flowers, butterflies and surrounded by many wildlife sanctuaries, it is an excellent getaway from the stress of modern life. There are nearly eight places of interest in and around Ponmudi, these are: Menmutty Falls, Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve, Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary, Agasthyakoodam Peak, Forest Main Gate, Mankkayam Falls, Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary and Sri Krishna Swami Temple. Some of the highly rated hotels in Ponmudi are KTDC Golden Peak, Tourist Guest House and Rivercounty Resort; however, Ponmudi does not have any restaurants. Thiruvananthpuram Central Railway Station and Airport are the nearest railhead and airport, it is well connected by a good network of road system.
