Situated nearly 32 km from Thiruvananthapuram Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near the lake formed by a dam across the Neyyar River. It is a popular picnic spot and is famous as a habitat of Asian Elephant, Tiger, Leopard and reptiles, such as king Cobra, Travancore Tortoise and crocodiles. Major attractions are Safari in the sanctuary, Crocodile farm, Lion Park, Jungle Safari and boating on the lake. Neyyar is connected by road to Thiruvananthapuram, the nearest railway station and airport is also situated in Thiruvananthapuram, which is 38 km away. A couple of well known hotels are situated near Neyyar Dam, these are Villa 16, Anantya Resorts and Tamarind Neyyer. No independent restaurants are listed in or near Neyyar Dam.
