Kovalam, situated on the coast of Kerala, is famous for its wonderful beaches. Many tourists from all over the world visit it to enjoy water sports scuba diving, water skiing, and water boarding. Some well known tourist destinations are Vellayani a fresh water lake, Valiyathura Pier, Edakallu, the Light House and the Samudra and Varkala beaches. Kovalam can be reached by air, rail and road, the nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport, about 10 km away and the nearest railway station is Thiruvanathapuram Central, about 16 km from Kovalam. Some of the hotels are Hotel Moonlight, Hotel Beach Flora Inn and KTDC Samudra Kovalam. It has a number of good restaurants, the Leela Kovalam, Sea View Restaurant and Sanjeevini Restaurant where one can enjoy both vegetarian and non vegetarian food.
